As some of my fellow bloggers on Mallorcablogs cover what could be considered travel-related topics – and probably take photographs for their posts as well – I thought I’d share the news that this year’s international Travel Photographer of the Year Awards is now open for entries. I’m told it’s one of the world’s biggest travel photography competitions, which attracts entries from more than 100 countries every year. And it’s open to amateur (that means me, and possibly you) as well as professional photographers.
New this year is the Smart Shot category, for images shot on a mobile phone or tablet. Other categories include Young Travel Photographer of the Year (photographers aged 18 and under), and an HD video category. Check out the Travel Photographer of the Year website for full details.
The awards judging panel includes the adventurer, naturalist, wildlife filmmaker & environmental activist Catherine Capon, Daria Bonera (photo agency director & photo editor for National Geographic Traveler Italy), curator Brigitte Lardinois, renowned wildlife photographer Chris Weston, and Caroline Metcalfe, former director of photography, Condé Nast Traveller.
The overall winner of Travel Photographer of the Year will be chosen from the photographers who submit two or more portfolio category entries. The winner will receive £2,500, the Travel Photographer of the Year trophy, a personalised Plastic Sandwich portfolio case or iFolio, and, of course, international exposure.
Travel Photographer of the Year is open to photographers of all ages and all nationalities, with the competition closing on October 1st, 2015.
Wouldn’t it be great if one of us on Mallorcablogs won this competition?
